refactory epilepsy
Thu, 07/24/2014 - 23:33hello everyone i am new here. i have had refactory epilepsy since i was a teenager and i dont know when i have seizures or remember when i have them. i just know what my family tells me happens. i have been on sevaral different meds which included depakote, lamtical. i had vns surgery in 2012 and have been zonegran for awhile now. Most recently they put me on onfi and we also tried DILANTIN which didnt work out i had a severe allergic reaction to the med had to be put in the hospital. anyway i got severe itchy rash from the drug. we tried everything i dont know what else to do and i still have seizures.

Have you worked with an epileptologist? I would think that specialist would most able to find new approaches for you, might include rechecking the diagnosis for any missed info, they know more about difficult seizure treatment, should help you consider if dietary therapy would help, drug studies or other treatment. I would try a second opinion with another epileptologist if you already see one.
