red/green rectangles and EEG

Sat, 08/22/2015 - 04:05
Hello again Just had my EEG and was really hoping that someone might be able to help. I toke my partner and while I was doing the tests he was having a sneaky look at the screen. As far as we can tell it was all ordered and calm from the google images I've shown him. What's confusing me is at the end there was a load of shaded rectangle boxes, mostly green but some red. She clicked on the red ones but left the green. During the hyperventilating part she got up to adjust some of the leads and I stopped deep breathing for a few seconds. She also asked me to stop moving my eyes at the start of the test, as my closed eyelids were unintentionally fluttering away, likely from nerves! So was thinking it was probably one or both of those since green is generally good. Just hoping for some news soon as I'm not due results for 2-3 weeks and haven't heard about a follow up appointment with the neurologist yet. Its been hinted that it may be stress/PNES but at the moment I'm worried about having one at work. Warehouses aren't exactly seizure friendly so an answer either way soon would be great. Anyway all answers very welcome. Many thanks!!

Stress is a trigger for many

Stress is a trigger for many people who have seizures. All the EEG does is show the electrical activity in your brain. Many people have them come back normal. I had 20-25 different EEG's all came back normal. A longer EEG can and does show more. Or a video EEG where you are kept for 72 hours can let them see what you do and if you have a seizure then it is captures in the video along with the electrical output in the EEG.Who hinted it might be PNES? And at what point was it hinted? There are reasons for asking those 2 questions. There are other seizure disorders that mimic epileptic seizures and PNES is just one of those. To find out more about PNES just type that into your search engine and go. I would first wait since it is just a hint.As for working in a warehouse, Depending on what you do in the warehouse would depend whether it is safe or not. I worked in many different warehouses and was even an Office and Warehouse Manager. So look at the variables involved in the work to make your determination.I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need.JoePS for more information go to the NSDF
