question about speech and accents

Sat, 06/23/2007 - 02:15
Do people ever ask you if you have an accent? I have lived in the same general area all my life (42 years) and I do not have an accent. Several times a year, people ask me where I am from. Sweden, Ireland.... Once, long ago, I was in a job interview and was told I speak too slowly for the job. I used to think the accent thing was funny, but now I am wondering. Maybe I do speak slowly. My seizures do affect my memory and word recall. Could they be affecting my syntax and pronunciation? Now I am curious. Do you ever get comments on your speech?

Hi Coopemicus, Most likely it is your Meds. I had alot of speech problems with Dilatin which is a side effect from the med. Most of your seizure Meds causes speech problems. It is best if you go over this with your Neuro if you are on Meds Iam sure he or she can help you with this. anniemarie
