Problems being able to do stuff

Thu, 08/10/2017 - 19:19
Hi all. I'm new here and not sure if this post went through, so decided to send it again I am epileptic but I love travelling. I'm wanting to do a Skydive in Dubai but needed a Doctor's signature to do it. I went to my GP and said he wouldn't sign it just because the company's rules and regs say the doctor shouldn't sign it if you have had a seizure within the last 2 years. I told my GP how my epilepsy is under control and even that I've done a Skydive before and I had no problem with it but he still wasn't willing to sign it. Makes me feel that the company is being unfair. They ain't doctors, so why make these rules and regs? Why not just base it on how my epilepsy is? Anyhow; the reason I have made this thread is because this isn't the first time this has happened, I was denied going on a tour to China and almost denied a tour of Africa (luckily I was able to get info about medical facilities so was able to go). What I want to know is has anybody else expirenced these kind of problems? Have you been able to get round them or how do you feel about it afterwards? Any replies appreciated

Hi I live in the UK but couldn't find a forum like this so hopefully you can still help and advise me! I've been diagnosed with epilepsy since I had a 2nd brain haemmorage in 2003,my worry is that I'm suffering from seizures while I'm asleep as I'm waking up nearly every day feeling like I've been hit by a truck, bad headache, muscles sore, horrible taste in my mouth and generally feeling like crap.To be fair I don't sleep for as long as I'd like but still even if I do get enough sleep I still wake up feeling awful,I am prescribed Keppra due to other meds I am taking,I don't know what to do and would really love any and all advice that you can offer, many thanks Kai

I am so sorry to hear that! I

I am so sorry to hear that! I am only 23 and forced to live on disability plus supplemental security income because no employer will hire me due to my seizures, even though they're relatively rare and very short (30 secs to one minute) and I'm right back to my old self after them. So I know how you feel about basically feeling like society and/or employers are denying us even though we are just trying to live in this world and do things like everyone else! I wish there were a way around it.. Lets just all riot hahaha jk! It definitely sucks being a part of a minority, but that's why we need to stick together! I wish the best of luck to you and God bless :)
