pregnancy options

Hi, my name is Whitney I'm 28 and my husband and I want to start a family. I currently take 200mg of Topomax twice a day for partial seizures (about one - three a day at the moment). The odd tonic clonic happens when my stress levels are high. The problem is there have been no studies of Topomax and pregnancy and my neurologist thinks that I should maybe switch to another AED before trying to conceive. I'm a little nervous as it could mean an unstable adjustment period and trying a few AEDs before finding the right one and I'm fairly stable on Topomax without any side affects (which is good compared to the other experiences I've had on Neurontin and Tegretol). Or the neuro said that we can go the genetic testing route if I choose to stay on the Topomax. I know that a lot of women with epilepsy have perfectly healthy pregnancies, I was just wondering if anyone has has to make a similar decision before can shed any light. Many thanks for taking the time.
