Post-op Seizure

Mon, 03/07/2016 - 02:24
Hello I am diagnosed with right MTS at the age of 23. Now, at the age of 31, I had undergone AmygdalaHippocampectomy. But after one month of surgery, I had seizure attack and that too Status Epilepticus SE. The doctor told me that it was because I took medicines of different Brand. Is the brand name really important? I never had SE before the surgery. Does that mean that the surgery was unsuccesful? Did anyone have the same experience? Please Share Now I was on Levecetiratam 500 amd dilantin 300 along with Tryptomer 25mg. I also started having mild migraines. In the nine years gap I only had 3 attacks of seizure but after the SE I was living with fear. My only hope is in God.

in order to  get brand name

in order to  get brand name medications. the doctors need to write "Brand name only" in the RX. Regulations to pharmacies tell them to fill prescriptions with generics if there any. Generics are tested just like other medications. Generics have to have the exact working ingredients as the name brand. The only difference is the fillers.I have used mane brand meds if a generic isn't available. Doc's assistant always said name brand only. Doc also knew I would use generics if available and knew the generic would save me hundreds of dollars so I was his test patient for keppra. If your doctor wants you to take name brand then he HAS to HAVE IT WRITTEN out. Some people have to use name brand because they have reactions to the fillers.  The active ingredient that helps control your seizures is the same in both 'brand' and 'generic' names but the substances that are used as fillers, dyes, or binders, sometimes differ. This can occasionally make a difference in how quickly they are absorbed from your stomach or processed by your body. This may affect how much medicine you need.
