In-Law Difficulties

Tue, 08/04/2015 - 00:28

I cannot seem to find much about this online, so I am posting my own thread. I am a woman and I have been married 3 years. My seizures actually began about two months after we got married, although I had some around puberty and didn't know what they were until now. At the time we got married, we had no clue. My husband is great about it and never makes me feel guilty, but his family is not the same.

My husband took a higher paying job that is not in his field because I could no longer work and we had to live on one income. Since then, I have felt resentment from them. After we visited this past summer, we are on a no-contact basis with most of his family by their decision (not ours). I had a seizure around them in a public place and his family ignored it. His mom laughed about it and changed the subject when he tried to explain what to do for me. I have tried to talk to them since but get no response via text or call.

I know I'm unfortunately not alone in this type of situation. What is the best way to deal with these types of family situations?
