Laughing During Seizures--Anyone Else?

Tue, 10/11/2016 - 01:23
Hi Everyone, So, a little background...24 y/o female. Early this year I underwent a longterm EEG to see if I could have a temporal lobe resection for TLE--complex partial seizures. But my EEG revealed that I had actually been misdiagnosed since I was a child, and I have IGE--can't have the surgery. But I did have one simple partial during the EEG. Exhibited panic attack like symptoms during it. Never happened again. Until about two months later. I started having what I think are simple partials regularly--I'm having between 15 and 20 every month now. When they happen, I get the feeling of falling down a hole (AKA Alice in Wonderland Syndrome), followed by a big smile and UNCONTROLLABLE laughter. I can't speak during the seizure, but I have all motor function--though admittedly slower than normal. And I remember the event afterward. Does this happen to anyone else? Specifically the laughing. My neuro thinks they're abscence seizures and we're doing another longterm EEG this week to confirm, but I have a pretty strong feeling his suspicions are incorrect.

  • What you're describing is a typical partial seizure. The laughing is just your own reaction. The strange out of world feeling is an aura before. The best.thing about an epilepsy diagnosis is you know what is
  • happening- your not crazy etc you brain is just malfunction because you have epilepsy like 1 in 26 others. You now need to treat it with the help of your doctor like any other medical condition
