Keppra side-effects?

Thu, 05/04/2006 - 22:54
It's almost 5 years since I've started with Keppra, a medication which helps me a lot to overcome seizures. In fact, I don't have seizures any longer, but tiny absences and memory problems. However, I have some rashes on my left and right leg. The rashes are not painful or itchy, and they are not so big. I have to do some blood test and my appointment with a dermatologist is in July 10. My doctor told me that Keppra may be the cause of the rashes. I looked everywhere to learn about the side-effect of this medication but I've never found that rashes or allergy may be something caused by Keppra. Does anybody had rashes on the body caused by Keppra or any other medication? I'm also taking Lamictal and Rivotril. Thanks. Edy edy_buzz@hotmail.com

Edy, Sorry to hear this! Before I switched back to Depakote ER I took Keppra. I also had a small rash on my left thigh and on my abdomen. But I never saw any warning about rash and Keppra that's why I decided don't raise an issue. My rash was very small in size!! I don't know why I had it and now it's gone! Best wishes, Natalya.

Thanks, Natalya, with all my heart I thank you for helping me. You are right, I should have not raise an issue since the rash is not a big problem. My doctor 'ordered' me to do some blood test and go to a dermatologist. I'll let you know about this issue, but I'm sure it won't be such a big problem. I just went to see another doctor, who is an old friend of mine, and he thought that it's not a big problem at all and he thinks that it's not the cause of Keppra. Thanks and take care. Edy
