JME and issues reading, writing?

Wed, 07/15/2015 - 20:33

Hi, I have JME and I have been on different meds I was on Depakote for many years and I always had trouble writing, but I always thought that it was because of my terrible tremors, my hands were shaking a lot! So, I switched to Lamotrigine about 4 months ago and I still having issues especially writing. I can only write maybe less than a page, I totally feel slow and I can't consentrate much I get very nervous I guess and I kind of write very hard and kind of looking closer, and my head hurts, not only that sometimes I feel like I am going to have a jerk. Is very weird and very difficult to explain this to my Dr. This happens more in the mornings. Some times when I am reading too. Also since I started on Lamotrigine is so hard for me to make decisions and concentrate, for example I am going to go out from the front door I kind of make a "stop" for seconds and think if that is the right door or the garage door???? If if I'm getting a fork in the kitchen I make another stop to think if I need to get the fork or something else, and so right after I kind of get lust for one or two seconds. I feel so weird and slow!

I was also have JME, and although the writing difficulty wasn't been an issue or possible complication from meds, I have experienced the 'confusion' state. As long as I can remember; it has been a problem. Instant forgetfulness or confusion... I have no answers for you or I, just empathy. Perhaps it's the area in the brain where the seizures had originated from- an area that may have been overly affected or perhaps damaged. My insight may be completely incorrect, wrong and naive though! I wish patience and strength for you.
