Jerking/twitching in sleep

Mon, 02/22/2016 - 04:22

Hi, my 28yo boyfriend has nocturnal epilepsy but thankfully only has the gran mals once a year or so.

He had one last weekend and since then I've noticed he is twitching and spasming more in his sleep. He does that from time to time before last week's seizure but I feel like they're more frequent and bigger in the last couple of nights. Sometimes he wakes himself up, but other times, the jerks don't wake him.

Wondering if these are related to the gran mal, or even epilepsy related, or if it's just a bad few nights of sleep.

Thanks in advance!

If his medications haven't changed for a long period of time then they do need to be checked out. As the body changes weight loss or gain the medications therapeutic levels change. I was having more seizures when changing from a kid to a teen. My dosages were changed 4-5 times in 8-9 months.
