I've had 5 seizures could this be epilepsy?

Okay, so 5 years ago when I was 21 I had my first seizure after that I managed to make it 5 years without another one. After that I had one when I was 25 and then since that one I've been getting them more often. I just turned 26 so in the last year alone I've had 4. My doctor put me on epilepsy medication right away after my first seizure when I was 21 he said that because I have NF neurofibromatosis and I have a dead tumor behind my right eye where I also get a lot of headaches he's been expecting me to get seizures. He just didn't expect me to make it 21 years without one. I had 2 in under an hour yesterday. I have read a lot of articles online that say just because you have 5 or 10 seizures doesn't mean you're epileptic is this true? Is my doctor just putting me on seizure medication when I don't need to be?

A person can have a seizure

A person can have a seizure andnot be diagnosed with epilepsy because thre are other kinds of things that can cause them. All it takes to diagnose epilepsy is 2 seizures. So your doctor is wrong. You posted they are becoming more frequest which happens without treatment in many people. Also th seizures will get more violent. If teh tumor cause anything to change in that area of your brain then yes it can be a cause on your seizures. If you were put on seizure meds do take them as prescribed. Two times a day should be morning and night and those times should be 12 hours apart. If you have been taking them understand that dosages need to be checked because as the body changes meds need to be increased or decreased. A change in weight can be enough. Hormonal changes caan affect the medication. If you look at the wection on this forum Women with Epilepsy you would see posts about meds not working or they are having more issues during their time of month. Is your doctor putting you on medications when you din't need them?? No Discuss this issue with them and get a referal to a specialist in epilepsy and see what they say and if your medicatins need to be changed or increased
