Is it stress or????

Wed, 01/03/2007 - 07:36
I am in the process of switching from trilepital to Lamictal. At the moment I am taking both. I was taking full dose of the trileptal, 600mg at night and 450 in the morning and 200mg twice a day on the lamictal. About 2 weeks ago, the doctor said I could cut back on night time dose to 450. Everything went well (except for the dizziness and such of taking both meds), and I was having no seizures. Then, last night, I found out that my baby sister (she's 40 but still the youngest) has what could be terminal cancer of the lungs and lymph nodes. This morning I woke up and started having seizures. So, is this the reduction of night time meds or the stress? Can seizures be stress related? Thanks in advance.

Deb, It could be the combination of the two but if you were doing well before the news of your sister, my bet is it is the stress. Seizures can be stress related . I'm so sorry to hear about your sister! I so hope it will turn out to be treatable. Hugs! -Spiz

Thanks for replying so quick Spiz. I'm going to call my dr later and if he thinks it stress, I'm going to ask him for some valium or something. I sure don't want to up my other meds.

Deb, I'm ever so sorry to hear about you're younger sister, that must be really hard for you. an awful lot of the seizure's I've ever had have been due to stress Deb, but it isn't the same for everyone. changing yr meds around is just as likely to bring on a szr..that happened with me too, but that'll stop once the meds are settled down to a regular pattern. you're best bet is to discuss it with you're doctor. I hope you get it sorted soon. thinking bout you. big hug :-) Ruth x
