Sat, 05/07/2016 - 18:00
Hi, I have epilepsy, and am looking for housing program options for living independently. Does anyone have any ideas/ suggestions or resources for housing options for adults anywhere in the US? Hopefully your replies can help us all.

My name is Leanne and I am 34

My name is Leanne and I am 34 years old and have been living with epilepsy since I’ve been a little girl and I am currently 6 months pregnant and my fiancé Joe and myself and our dog Nakita that we adopted after Hurricane Irma last year are currently residing in LasVegas, NV as we just moved here about a month ago and are seeking assistance to get help with housing and just every day life. Our car broke down in FL before we even got a hundred miles from where we lived in FL and we were forced to rent a hotel room for several days while trying to fix our car so we could get back on the road and unfortunately our car was unfixable to us and we were forced to call a company that buys you’re car as us for a ridiculously cheap price, but we needed the money desperately so we sold.  We finally got back on the road in a rental vehicle that my parents helped us with and after a week and a half of driving on the tail end of Hurricane Michael and traveling through the destruction of Hurricane Michael in the panhandle and stopping to rest along the way we had spent the majority of our money that we had saved to get settled. My fiancé refinanced his Harley Davidson to get us started and we have exhausted all of our finances and have still not gotten into something more permanent than weekly housing.  It is very stressful worrying week to week about how we are going to pay our rent every Monday morning by 10 am. We have managed to scrounge it together the past few weeks, but we now no longer are going to be able to scrounge it together as we do not have anyone to turn to that has the financial stability to be able to assist us with financial help. We have gone to the assistance office and have attempted to get help with housing and transportation and we have called 211 and many different groups that assist people with different disabling conditions and have not been successful as every place we reach out to gives us another number to call or new location to visit. We are taking Lyft and Uber as much as we can when we have the funds, but walking ends up being our means of of getting around which is very stressful and scary not only, because I am epileptic and 6 months pregnant and could potentially have a seizure at any time walking, but also because walking in LasVegas,NV poses many other risks as well and not just the traffic and the careless drivers, but the environment and lack there of help to the homeless population and the panhandling and people you get approached by begging and asking for help. We are not native to NV as we just moved here from FL. We are originally native to NY and PA and we do not have family and friends to help us figure all of this out. We both have our Medacaid setup and are currently active, but are at a loss financially what to do to get our rent paid as we have no income. If anyone out there knows of any resources or help that would assist us from becoming homeless by Monday it would be greatly appreciated if you share you’re knowledge and how to expedite help ASAP as we are expecting and are high risk and we have a dog that relys on us as well. If you have any information or know of resources that may help us please email us at babyonboard19@outlook.com or call us at (724)317-1101 and ask to speak with my fiancé Joe as all of this is extremely stressing me out and I need to try and avoid being stressed out as I have stress induced seizures and am 6 months pregnant and high-risk as it is. Thank you for taking the time for reading this...may peace be with you and God Bless
