Health and workplace

Hi,

I am currently looking for a job, but I don't know what to do about the few years I was out of work due to seizures. Has anyone here ever had this problem (gaps in employment due to seizures). Any advice would be helpful!

Sincerely,

Gina

Been ther done that. Yes many

Been ther done that. Yes many people have gaps in their work history. I have several.  Back then all job interviews were done in person. SO they saw and heard what I could do. If asked do tell them about your gaps. With me I had gone 3+ years without any seizure. I had one and Doc told me I couldn't work for 6 months so we could get my seizures under control. Oh and the job I had was a trigger for my seizures. I was to become a roving chef and to cover all hte cafeterias in 3 states and that was to have taken place 2 weeks after I had my seizure. I went 6 months and was hired by the apartment owner to do maintence at the complex. Rather then paying me I got my apt free and my food was covered because I cooked. Friends can do wonders. WHen I left 3 years later I told the person doing the interview what had happened and gave them the phone number to the owner of the copmplex.

I didn't say anything unless

I didn't say anything unless it helped my application. Then I tell them in my cover letter and interview that....I could work well in their hospital because I know how to treat disabled people because I've been one of them( or something like that)
