Going walk abouts on mild seizures

Fri, 11/25/2016 - 16:42
Hi everyone I'm new to this site and hope to get a little feedback from others who may have one time been in the same situation as myself. I'm now 38 and was first diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 6 after a grand mal seizure, I was put on medication for a few years and it finally passed but at the age of 17 I then started to have mild seizures again and then once again the medication came back into my life. All seemed fine until the age of 25 when after doctors had constantly changed my medication and the dosage my seizures became worse, I had a lot of grand mal, petit mal and others. Once I was making a cup of tea and poured the kettle of hot water over my hand but thought the pain was a headache so went to bed and 2 hours later asked my mum for paracetamol and she noticed my hand had swelled. The seizures got worse so in the end I decided to have neurosurgery done to improve my life, which it did. It also took away a lot of my memory and made me very depressed and this was 10 years ago. I am currently taking 350 mg of zonisamide, 2500 mg of Levetiracetam and 20 mg of clobazam per day and undergoing tests for a 2nd operation which I'm not too fond of doing due to more memory loss. Last week I was on my home from work I got off a bus to walk home (approx 10 minute walk) I must of then had a complex focal seizure and ended up walking round a big horse field in total darkness for 2 hours trying to find my way out, weather was awful - cold, rain & hailstones but couldn't remember a thing apart from asking a horse to show me the way out (I know that sounds ridiculous) but it helped me. Thanks to my phone it showed me I walked 4 miles in 2 hours but can't remember any of it. Has anyone out there been through something similar? Thanks for reading.
