frustrated with having unctrolled seizures

Sun, 08/30/2015 - 00:03

hello everyone, I really need some help trying to figure out these seizures that i have been having since 1998. i have seen so many doctors, have had so many test and have been perscribed so many medication with no luck that i feel like a lab rat. The doctors that i have seen dont have any clue what is wrong with me or why i am having seizures. I dont even know when i am going to have a seizure, i could be watching t.v, or hanging out with family and the next thing i know i have a seizure and have a bruise somewhere on my body and i dont even remeber anything. I am so frustrated with these seizures that i cant even say. I have lost friends because of this illness and it feels like this illness is controlling everything in my life because my family is constantly worried about me. I am just hoping to make some friends through this site who know what this illness is like.

You posted you have seen many doctors and had a lot of tests. Were those doctors Neurologists who specialize in epilepsy? Were any of those tests an EEG or a MRI? Who many times have you seen a doctor and discussed this issue with him and asked them about your medications? Asked about the dosage you take and if it needs to be raised or lowered?Seizures can be controlled. But what is controlled to you?  Is it no seizures what so ever? Is it a seizure now and then?I was frustrated within 2 years of not getting a diagnosis. I know I had epilepsy. That diagnosis was a given since all it takes is 2 seizures. I wanted why me and when will they stop. You have been living and dealing with your epilepsy for about 15 years. In that period of time I think you might have thought about research more and found a specialist in epilepsy that could help you get better control of your seizures.I have been living and dealing with my epilepsy and seizures for 50+ years. When I was diagnosed there  weren't neurologists that specialized in epilepsy. All neurologists dealt with anything wrong in the central nervous system. Which meant that after the neurologists specialized which was mid 1980's things got better. I had some of my questions answered. I had fewer seizures. But I still had seizures. I didn't know when I would have one and I still don't know. Does that mean my seizures aren't controlled? NO.....I know that I will never be completely seizure free. But Doc knows I would love to not have a seizure every now and then. Especially when He knows I went 3+ years without one. It is all in how one considers CONTROLLED.If I were you I would be going to the get help sections and finding a doctor In my area. I already have since Doc retired last month. He also gave me names of doctors he would send me to if either of the associated can't take anymore of his patients. Oh and I do know both of them.
