Exercise & New Meds

Has anyone had experience with shifting your workout for a med switch? Since my diagnosis in Feb, I've taken up bicycling for transportation and exercise. My concern is that as I switch meds (from Tegretol to Topamax - my white blood cell count has dropped on Tegretol) I will have to give it up for a while. Maude knows I was wiped out mentally and physically as I titrated to the Tegretol. Ep-wise, I have the rare aura since I've been exercising and getting proper sleep. I've also been getting control of my weight, and I don't want a med-related set back (though I hear Topamax works wonders in that area). Anyone just power through the fatigue, drowsiness, etc.? Thanks! PS - I'm kind of new to this whole epilepsy business. Just diagnosed with TLE at 35. Had first and only tonic-clonic on Super Bowl Sunday. Before that I'd been having complex partials for about a year and didn't know it.

Reva I've been on topmax for 15 months and so far so good. I take 25mg2x daily and haven't had a grandmal sez since starting it. I workout a lot and found out I funtion better on days I work out. Mostly 5-6 times a week but lately I chase two grandkids around so I do get my cardio LOL. Yoga and pilates helps me get through those ucky feelings. I do my workout first thing in the morning or when I don't sleep anyway. I love my bike as well.Good luck to you.......m
