Epilepsy&creative abilities

Hi everyone I've read a few threads with people talking about since having epilepsy they believe they hav psychic abilities, but what this thread is about I think is a bit more realistic, Ive always been intrested in art ,tattoos etc, I know this sounds big headed but I've always been good at drawing and designing stuff I have designed tattoos for friends and family and hav drew pictures for my son to put in his room, the thing is since being diagnosed with epilepsy5years ago I've noticed my art is getting better&better all the time and I'm drawing a lot more often also I used to get artists block I would be sitting there for ages and not be able to think what2draw, where as now my mind is flooded with ideas all the time i have that many that I've started2write my ideas in my sketch book to draw at a later date also I can just sit with my paper and pencils and start doodling & about20m later I've drew out an amazing tattoo or picture of something.im asking about this because I saw a similar thread somwhere and in history there have been famous creative people artist writers etc with epilepsy, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed an improvement in there creative abilities and that they can think of stuff to draw out or write or make music, if other people that have experienced what I'm talking bout then please leave a comment thanks

thats cool that you have all that abilitys that some people dont. my family thinks its different how I can think also when I talk sometimes and  my point of veiws, oppinions and just how I can think. Ive heard alot of people say they have special abilities if they are in the same boat, me personally I dont know, I know I have alot of dejavoe and some of the things they might say and think sometimes but I really dont know, doesnt alot of people have dejavoe sometimes? all I can say is its all how you think about it and express yourself that makes you different than anyone else and thats a good thing, dont you think.

Thanks for your reply I get the de javu feeling sometimes thankfully not a lot tho cos it freaks me rite out I've read in other posts &also on the net that quite a few people with epilepsy are or can be divergent thinkers which I would term a good thing but I don't no the ins and outs of it and I don't no what type of research has been done to do with it there's a post on this thread with a link which has good reading but like you said it is how you think perceive and express ourselves that gets the end product also am not very good at English hence no full stops and thank god for spell checker lol

I was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago and this same thing happened to me! Prior to having epilepsy, although more focused, I often struggled in being creative as far as my writing was concerned and even more than that, toning in to the inner emotion that would allow my writing to have a deeper feeling, and essentially meaning. Now, however, it seems that day by day my creativity increases and I can tone in with my inner emotions more and more. This is definitely one upside of having epilepsy! Wish you luck with your art!
