epilepsy and vertigo

When I was 19 I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy, though it is now mostly controlled through medication and lifestyle (still have absence seizures a few times a week).  This weekend I had a strange experience that began with what I think was an absence seizure (that resulted in a burn on my hand), though for the past 3 days afterward I've had a lot dizziness, sluggishness - similar to what I feel after a much larger seizure.  The only thing that seems to help is to sit in a dark room, in relative silence - I feel fine in this environment with little to no stimuli.  Though when I venture out, turn on the light, etc I again feel dizzy, sluggish, etc.  Yesterday after venturing out I got a full migraine, with an aura that mimics my seizures.

When I was 16 or 17 (when I was having seizures that were as yet undiagnosed), I had very similar episodes of dizziness that happened often - it was always diagnosed as vertigo, and finally diagnosed with vestibular neuritis (which is basically a nerve that can cause recurring vertigo).  I'm just curious if there is any connection between vertigo and epilepsy?  Since bouts of vertigo can feel so much like recovering from a seizure, is there any relation between the two?  I have read that there is a type of epilepsy called Vertigo Epilepsy, the seizures in this case seem to be small periods of dizziness, while mine is longer-term (lasting a few days to a week, though alleviated by staying in a dark room).  Though I still wonder if the feeling of dizziness and sluggishness I am getting is in fact a seizure?  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Thanks!

When I was 16 or 17 (when I was having seizures that were as yet undiagnosed), I had very similar episodes of dizziness that happened often <<< Your post says what it could be. As for buring yourself. Well I have had focal seizures while cooking. I have scars from laying my hand in the skillet while cooking fried prork cjhops. So I do know about seizures and burns. That wasn't the onlly times I burned myself either but I love to cook.  You meed to contact your neurologist and discuss this isue with him Since it could be seixures other then your absence seizures. I know I have had other seizures and know the seizures I had and yes a person can have more then 1 type of seizure. I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need Joe
