I HAD ALOT OF PROBLEMS ON THE JOB TO WITH MY EMPLOYERS HARASSING ME - I DON'T KNOW IF THATS WHAT IS GOING ON BUT IF SO OR EVEN IF NOT CHECK OUT THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT ON YOUR COMPUTER THEY WILL TELL YOU YOUR RIGHTS AS AN EMPLOYEE AND WHAT YOUR EMPLOYER CAN AND CANNOT DO TO YOU JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE EPILEPSY OR ANY OTHER AILMENT.

ONE OF MY JOBS TRIED TO FIRE ME AFTER I WAS DIAGNOSED <I WORKED IN A DELI IN A SUPERMARKET> AND I THREW A COPY OF THE ACT IN THEIR FACE FORCING THEM TO GIVE ME A POSITION IN ANOTHER AREA.  THEY MUST - MUST ACCOMODATE YOU - NO QUESTIONS.  IF NOT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBTAIN A LAWYER  AND SUE THEM BUT LETS HOPE IT NEVER HAS TO COME TO THAT.

Hello

I am at a new job, I've been here for almost 2 months. I have not told my employer about my sezuires yet. I have not had any episodes at work. I was wondering if it is a good idea to tell them now (and how to bring up the subject?) or not tell them at all?

Thanks

Dear Stressful at work:

I have generalized seizures with JME (junivunille myoclonic epilepsy).  I just also recently started my new job about a month ago and haven't said anything to my employer.  My seizures are under control with medication and I don't see why I would have the need to let them know about my condition.  I look at it this way...why fix a problem if it isn't broken.  I have a great job and I don't want to mess it up.  If a seizure happens then I deal with it at that time, if it never happens...it never happens.  I don't worry it.  :)  I hope that helped you some, if any.   Your friend.
