Updates to Seizure Diary

Thu, 03/27/2008 - 00:33

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow we will be launching revisions to the seizure diary to correct some bugs and make using the diary a lot easier. This is NOT the final version. We are working on other updates to make recording of side effects easier and to create better reports to print out, for example.

Here's a few tips...

1- If you have already begun a diary, it will still be there! However, everyone should go in and check their data, especially the medication section. We have changed the meds to track by total daily dose and the dose at each time when meds are taken, rather than by number of pills taken. Thus, you will need to edit your medicine schedule. The rest of the data should be the same!

2- We have taken out the tool that keeps track of the number of pills on hand and have reminders of when refills are needed. Since people often use different doses of the same med, trying to keep track of all this was confusing on the forms. I hope people don't mind. If you do want that refill tracking feature back again, let us know.

3- On the drop down menu of medicines, not all the generic names are listed there yet. If you don't see the name of the drug you are taking, visit the Seizure medicine database and look up the correct brand name. If you are from outside the U.S., use the International AED Database to find the corresponding drug name in the U.S. Eventually,we'll get all generic names listed.

4- We've tried to beef up the instructions. If questions, look in the HELP pdf or email webmaster or myself.

5- When you are entering data on one page, make sure you review the data and click on save, before you move on to the next page, to ensure that your data has been saved.

Please let us know any problems, ideas, concerns, or even good feedback! :)  Don't get too hard on us though.....remember this is a work in progress so we need your help!! I think you'll find it getting easier each time and I hoe that you find it a useful tool in managing your epilepsy.

Best wishes,

New Seizure Diary Coming Soon!

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2009-06-30 - 12:34

Hi everyone!

Just to keep you posted - a new seizure diary will be coming soon! It will be easier to use, easier to follow visually, and have more features. For example, you'll be able to print out reports that will graph your seizures in many different ways. You'll still be able to enter your seizures, medications, notes about triggers or other things. And a medical history feature will be coming soon too - a place to record your seizure history and print out to take to a doctor's appointment!

The new diary will be called the EpiCom Diary - to emphasize the link to this site, the senses of community, continuity, and communication that the diary will give you.

Once I know actual launch date, we'll post it here and everywhere.

And, thanks to everyone who has helped give important feedback along the way!

Best wishes,
