Nocturnal Seizures/Night sweats/Insomnia

Sat, 02/04/2017 - 17:20
Hello, I'm 24 years old and I had a seizure(grand mal) 3 years ago while backpacking in Central America. I saw a neurologist and he put me on 500mg of Epival ER. When I came back home, I saw another neurologist who marked this as an isolated epileptic seizure and I wasn't diagnosed with Epilepsy as they didn't noticed anything wrong. I was wondering if I could be having nocturnal seizures. I've always had difficulty sleeping but I started noticing excessive sweating and other things. It takes me about two to three hours falling asleep at night and I wake up a lot during the night, so a 4 hours of sleep is a normal night for me. It could only be insomnia but I sometimes (2-3 times a month) wake up completely drenched and I have to change my clothes and my bed sheets. I remember it happening when I was a child too. Sometimes I also wake up feeling exhausted even if I don't remember waking up once during the night. I also bite my tongue and the inside of cheeks quite often, I didn't really noticed it until my dentist mentioned it to me. I will probably go see a doctor about it because the sleeping thing is getting worse but I was just wondering if any of you experienced similar patterns? Could it be nocturnal seizures or do you think it could only be sleeping problems?

I too have night sweats at

I too have night sweats at around the same amount, even when the room is cold.  This started around the same time I had my AVM and became epileptic.  I cannot help but wonder if they are related.  I have had aura soon after waking up but do not know what is going on when I sleep but I also have nights when I wake up halfway through the night.  It sucks because I need to get my sleep so I can work without having a seizure.
