I think I might have had a non-epileptic seizure?

Sat, 05/14/2016 - 18:39
I had my first seizure when I was 10 (I am now 16). It was later discovered that I had a brain cyst which erupted after over stressing my brain. The doctors said it was better off keeping it in me as it was so small. I have only ever had 2 seizures, one on the day and one later during my time in hospital. Ever since then I've had the occasional bad headaches, etc. but nothing really serious. Today, I had a really bad argument with my mom, which left me in floods of tears. I went to my bed and lay down crying facing the lights on the ceiling. As I was crying and looking at light my vision obviously became blurry as the tears filled my eyes, and I started to role my eyes to allow the tears to fall from the sides of my eyes rather than the inner corner. I then began to shiver, which I assumed was because of the cold. I tried to be as quiet as possible so tried to stop myself breathing, only at the parts, when I became hysterical. This caused me to breathe shortly and quickly as if i was running out of air. I then began to shake furiously in my legs, which grew to my whole body. This all lasted about 20mins. When i had my first seizures, they started with eye- rolling and violent shaking, however I would have unconscious episodes in between. This time it was sort of voluntary and I was concious the whole time. I have exams next week, so I don't to waste my time going to the hospital. Please give me your opinions. Thanks.

When i had my first seizures, they started with eye- rolling and violent shaking, however I would have unconscious episodes in between. <<<< Your first seizure had conscious and unconscious times. In both your eyes rolled and there was shaking. There are more types of seizures then just those you know you have had. A person can have a seizure like a tonic-clonic which is violent with the loss of consciousness. But I have had more seizures that were convulsive and I knew what was happening. I saw the people around me I heard what was said. The only thing I could not do was respond.Basically what I am saying is this could very well be a seizure. If you are still taking medications and have your neurologist then call them. All it might take is a dosage change. Changing from  kid to a young teen does have to be looked at. Hormone changes to affect the medication. I know In my change I had dosage changes 4-5 times in about a year. If the dosage is changes or you call and they set up an appointment it will probably not be for this week or next. But which would you rather have your health or your exam. Schools and colleges have counselors that can help get delays or set up times for those exams. Call the 24/7 help line. They are there to help answer your questions the number is 1-800-332-1000
