Do these episodes sound like Simple Partial to you?

Wed, 03/01/2006 - 23:19
Example: Right before I got out of bed this morning just my legs start shaking, but not the rest of me. 5 seconds. Then the next one is the top half of me, 5 seconds or so, stops. Thruout the morning I have a few times where I feel pressure and an "electric current" in my head which lasts for a few seconds, then stops. During this time I freeze with whatever I'm doing - fully conscious thru all this stuff. Now does this sound familiar to anyone? What medicine do you take? I'm taking Tegretol for this particular problem right now. I have been waiting since January to see a epilepsy specialist and from the looks of it I won't get seen until May. My current neuro is prescribing the Tegretol. (I'm seeing him for dystonia.) Thanks for any input you can give me. I really appreciate it. Elsea

Finally...someone to relate to on the electic current running through the head feeling. I used to get that frequently, and it got alot better after starting on Lamictal, so I would say it is a simple partial. I used to get the electric current thing and it would last for a long time and keep me up at night at times. I still do the freeze whatever I am doing thing. It is like my brain turns itself on standby, (still conscious, but look spaced out.) It happened not long ago, and a pediatrician was standing nearby me at the hospital, and he started to stare at me as I was staring into nothing towards a newborn in the nursery, and I suddenly noticed it, and I said "what" to him, and he said "nothing, I just saw you staring at the baby with your mouth open like this", and he made a face of staring with mouth open. I blamed it on being early, which it was. It kinda makes me wonder what he was thinking. I am a student nurse, and I was there for my obstetrics clinical. I had a problem with my legs last year that progressed into a limp, but found out after going to a chiropractor( after getting an MRI and EMG that the neuro ordered) that an x-ray showed my hips were rotated , and one leg was shorter from another, and the chiropractor helped me alot. My legs were always the worst in the morning or anytime after sitting for very long.

Thanks for your response. That's a good way to put "on standby". I feel like I'm on freeze frame on a VCR. Regarding legs - my right hip is like that but after years of exercising I threw out the lift in my shoe (3/8" lift). The yoga had corrected the discomfort. Elsea
