Could I have epilepsy??
Thu, 06/25/2009 - 11:18Ever since I was young (probably around grade 3), I have been experiencing these werid episodes. I am not sure if they are seizures. When I looked at the info on this site, I see that what I am experiencing is very similar to a simple partial seizure. Although it is rather hard to explain, I'll do my best.
A lot of the time (most of the time) when I run or am about to run or even when I'm just sitting there or get up quickly, something weird happens to me. My knees feel weak and I have to fall/ sit down. My hands for some reason clench tightly (like my fingers bend in half and clench hard) and my mouth opens wide and I have NO control over what I am doing. I can't talk or move for a few seconds. The only way I can stop these symptons from happening too much, is if I bite myself hard and it somewhat stops. I am 15 now. I have went to the doctor and had blood work but no results.I usually pretend to be tying my shoelaces untill the symptons disappear. In the recent years, it has been happening when i am just sitting there, not necessarily standing up. My doctor does not think it is anything because i am concious when it happens. She thinks its stress, but i couldn't have been stressed in grade 4!!!
Is this epilepsy?

If you've been having grand mal seizures for years, it seems like you probably do have epilepsy. Are you currently taking antiseizure medication? Have you seen a neurologist? Some tests such as EEG, CT scan, and MRI need to be performed to prove these seizures aren't coming from another condition.

I,m 37 and I have had grandmal seiz. for years, I now am having another type of seiz. I do jerk and my hands will clentch, sometimes just have a violent jerk, and My legs give out and I have fallen enouph times. And My dr. says it may be a seiz, But I had to see alot of dr.s Let me know what happens.
