Childhood Epilepsy

Thu, 02/26/2015 - 19:24
I am now 32 years old, when I was 9 I had my first major seizure. When they diagnosed me, we found out I had been having absence seizures since Kindergarten but it went undiagnosed. I had 3-4 major seizures between age 9 and 13 and went a year without one before they took me off my meds, I have not had another one since. I am wondering, when I become perimenopausal, if there might be a chance my seizures will come back. I just want to be prepared for it. Thanks for any help/advice at all in advance.

My cousin had seizures an she too was on medications. She was taken off her medications and hasn't has a seizure since she was in her early 30's. which was a long time ago.  If you haven't has a seizure in that long then relax and enjoy your life. There is a possiability that you might have a seizure. Just like there is a possiability that you will have a car accident or a heart attack tomorrow. The numbers can show possiabilities butI don't look at the numbers, Neither does my cousin. have lived over 50+ years with epilepsy and many before that. Do I worry if I am going to have one? NO seizures are a blip in time and I have more to do they worry about a blip in time.
