Hello, I currently take 600mg Lyrica, along with 4000 Keppra and 400 Lamictal. I was put on the medication over a year ago which is when I had my last grand maul. My seizures have decreased with each dose increase. My VNS was also increased for part of this time to. I give more credit to the Lyrica for the decrease in my seizures though. I'm not sure what side effects you get with your seizure medications. For me I've determined the second job of seizure medications is to put you to sleep. Over time I just learn to tolerate each dose increase. Hope your daughter has success changing over.

Lyrica causes seizures!

I was prescribed Lyrica for nerve damage in my neck but my epileptologist told me that I couldn't take it because it causes seizures.  That may just be me and the types of seizures that I have.  I always call my epileptologist before taking anything new that he didn't prescribe himself, it's paid off many of times.  Neurontin is the only other nerve damage med that my neurosureon could presribe but that also causes seizures, I remember that rom when they first started trying AED's on me!  Neurontin made me 10 times worse, I can only imagine what Lyrica would have done to me!  Lyrica and Neurontin are in the same class of meds.

Good luck to you and I hope that everything works out for you!

My daughter takes Lyrica and Topamax. The only thing I can say is it seems to have affected her menstrual cycle. The last time they upped it, she started missing some of her cycles, and she is very irregular now. It will cause weight gain too. The Topamax helps with the gain, (as it causes weight loss) It seems like these meds' all come with side effects.
