Meet Nile, the New Seizure Diary App
The Epilepsy Foundation has been supporting its patient, clinician and research community with My Seizure Diary for the past 15 years and is proud of all that has been achieved. My Seizure Diary was created in 2007 to provide a self-management tool for epilepsy with a focus on self-monitoring, tracking seizures, and managing medication and other therapies. Since then, more than 65,000 people with epilepsy, caregivers and clinicians have tried and adopted My Seizure Diary. Today, there’s a new diary app, Nile, to continue supporting the large epilepsy community of electronic diary users.
Nile is the first app designed to support you between visits.
You (or your caretaker) can:

Nile Remembers When You Can’t
Why should you be using an app to keep track of your health, events, and side effects? Whether you’re newly diagnosed, or well into your epilepsy journey, doctors need accurate information about your medication adherence, seizures, and symptoms. Having epilepsy may impact your memory. How often have you forgotten to bring something up in front of your doctor? That can change now.
Nile Connects the Dots for Your Doctor
Once your doctor is connected, Nile analyzes your seizures, meds, and side-effects, compiling your health patterns into a dashboard for your doctor’s review. If they prescribe a new medication, that medication is inputted into Nile, and you’re prompted to follow it precisely. With Nile everything you log can help your doctor find the right treatment for you.
Progress Happens Between Appointments

What is Nile?
Nile has replaced My Seizure Diary as the preferred diary app of the Epilepsy Foundation. Nile does everything My Seizure Diary used to do, and more, including the ability to connect with your doctor if they are using Nile as well.
Where can I download Nile?
Nile is available for download in the Google Play store and Apple App store.
How do I import my data from My Seizure Diary into Nile?
The migration window closed on May, 20th 2022. Thank you to all our MSD users who securely migrated their data to NILE.
Does Nile offer a web version?
No, Nile is a mobile app that can be downloaded and used on any smartphone or tablet.
I don’t see my medications from My Seizure Diary.
Tap the pill icon on the bottom bar. Tap “Review Medications” in the My Seizure Diary Meds box.
How can I export my data from Nile to show my doctor?
With Nile, you do not need to export your data. If you want your doctor to see your data on a regular basis, you can enter your doctor’s information from your account page. Tap “Care Team”, then Enter Your Care Team Info.
I am having technical issues with Nile.

Can I use Nile as a caregiver to someone living with epilepsy?
Absolutely. The diary owner can invite you as a caregiver. Caregivers are able to see and log events on their behalf.
Does Nile cost anything?
No, Nile is 100% free for patients. No hidden costs or in-app purchases.
Can I use the app to keep track of my epilepsy even if my doctor doesn’t use Nile?
Yes. You can use Nile on your own or you can link your account with your doctor if they use Nile too.
How is my health data protected when using Nile?
We take data security very seriously. Nile is HIPAA compliant and uses best-in-class secure data encryption.
In which countries is Nile available?
The Nile app is currently available in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. Only doctors located in the U.S. are able to use Nile’s health care provider portal at the moment.
