Personal Insights: The Epilepsy Journey
Epilepsy News From: Monday, July 16, 2018
Facebook Live on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 8 p.m. ET
Are you or a loved one living with epilepsy? Have you ever felt all alone or had questions about how others cope? Everyone has their own journey with epilepsy. Where you want to go may be similar, but how you get there will vary depending on so many factors, including:
- If your seizures are your main health problem, your journey will go in one direction. But your life can still be affected in many different ways by epilepsy.
- If you have seizures and other neurological problems or comorbidities, you'll have a much different journey.
No matter where you are in life, hearing about someone else's journey is a learning experience that's not available from your health care team.
Join the Epilepsy Foundation Facebook page on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 8 p.m. ET to talk with Mike McKenna LMSW, a social worker, patient educator, and most importantly, a person who has lived with epilepsy for over 25 years. His journey has included navigating years of uncontrolled seizures and trying different treatments, including medications, surgery, and devices (both VNS Therapy® and RNS® Therapy). Mike will share his lived experiences and how he developed the resiliency needed for his journey. And how he has recently started a new epilepsy journey.
Best wishes,
