Programs & Resources

Youth Programs

Our youth services are designed to empower children and families living with epilepsy. We offer camps for children, support groups for teenagers, and tools for young adults to connect with each other. Purple Camp affords children with epilepsy a chance to have fun in an environment designed for them, to make friends, and build their own confidence in their abilities. The Young Leaders Network connects young people to each other and encourages our next generation of leaders through meet-ups and weekly virtual meetings.

Support Groups

Group connections have been shown to be a powerful force in helping people with epilepsy and caregivers. Our SHARE (Support, Hope, Advocacy, Resources, Educate) groups offer an excellent opportunity to connect, share, and learn.

Epilepsy Foundation New England has an ever-evolving series of groups for those of all ages and capabilities.

Resource Rooms

An Epilepsy Resource Room is an area in/near an Epilepsy Center or hospital or in a virtual space, staffed by 1-5 AmeriCorps Service Members, that provides one or more of the following: active listening and support, basic patient/family education, community information and referral services, site-based support programs (e.g., peer support group), socialization programs (e.g., youth group), a library of helpful literature, and assistance to hospital staff with site-specific needs to improve support for their patients with epilepsy, such as helping patients prepare for telehealth appointments.

Remembrance Network

The “Remembrance Network” supports individuals and families who have experienced the loss of a loved one due to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) or an epilepsy related death. The Network is comprised of trained and supervised volunteers who have themselves lost a loved one to epilepsy and would like to share their personal experience of loss and recovery to help others through this very difficult journey. The Remembrance Network can provide direct and immediate support.

Emergency Financial Assistance

Epilepsy can create a range of challenges for individuals and families that can result in short-term financial hardships. Epilepsy Foundation New England offers resources to help members in our epilepsy community in times of need, bringing financial assistance to people living with epilepsy with an emphasis on helping people maintain their health, safety, and quality of life.

Advocacy

When it comes to advocating for those living with epilepsy, we mean business. That’s why we’re asking for your help to raise awareness and bring change to better support those living with seizures right here in our local communities.

Funding Research

Playing a key role in seizure treatment, prevention, and detection, epilepsy research is critical to the betterment of our community. Epilepsy Foundation New England gives thousands of dollars each year toward epilepsy research, we foster the development of new scientists and support research that leads to better treatments and care.
