The Executive Director implements the various programs, policies and activities of the chapter. This position provides strategic leadership for the chapter by working with the Senior Management Team and the Chapter Advisory Board to establish, implement and monitor long and short-range goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements administrative policies and procedures and manages the chapter, establishingroutine operational procedures. Supervises all personnel.
  • Together with the Chapter Advisory Board Chair, leads and manages the ChapterAdvisory Board to include setting and monitoring expectations to meet organizationalgoals and objectives.
  • Works with the Finance department to exercise fiscal management and controlof the chapter by presenting budget recommendations and regularly reportingon the fiscal performance of the chapter as it relates to the budget.
  • Works with the Development department to establish a fundraising plan whichfulfills the anticipated financial needs of the chapter. Responsible for execution ofthe fundraising plan with the assistance of the Development department.
  • Collaborates with the Field Operations department to advance the mission of theFoundation and to implement and cultivate the Community Action Network. Assists inrecruiting, training and ongoing support of leaders and volunteers for the CommunityAction Network.
  • Collaborates with and engages appropriate community resources, organizations,and groups toward the advancement of the chapter's program objectives.
  • Develops and conducts an active public education program.
  • Works collaboratively with the Advocacy department as the state point of contactfor advocacy and policy matters.
  • Working collaboratively with the Program department, evaluates programactivities and develops program expansion projects.
  • Analyzes local program needs and recommends new services or changes inpresent program offerings.
  • Develops good working relationships with hospitals, medical societies, health departments,social service agencies, clubs, organizations, media, etc., keeping them informed aboutpolicy and programs. Attends meetings related to health issues and/or development ofchapter programs.
  • Reports regularly on various phases of the Chapters operation.
  • Attends conferences and meetings as scheduled by the Epilepsy Foundation andother appropriate agencies.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including weekends and evenings, asnecessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.


  • Bachelor's degree / Master's degree preferred.
  • Five to seven years of demonstrated successful experience in positions requiring asubstantial amount of public contact in education, fundraising, public relations, andcommunity services.
  • Must be able to accept responsibility, work with minimum direction and supervision, andobtain the support and cooperation of volunteers.
