Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Field Fundraising will oversee the development and execution of special events and other chapter-based fundraising programs throughout the organization, including back-office support to the field for event execution. This position will manage a small but mighty team in the national office and work collaboratively with Chapter Executive Directors and fundraisers across the country.

The Director will possess an entrepreneurial spirit and have experience in special events fundraising, event logistics, volunteer leadership, budgeting, and meeting planning. The Director must be detail oriented and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead, motivate and direct at least one supporting staff person.
  • Recruit, manage and train volunteers
  • Work with Development and other Foundation staff, when appropriate, to develop key communications components such as website, social media and collateral materials for all events
  • Work with Corporate Partnership to create and execute sponsor-able opportunities in Special Events.
  • Develop vendor requests for proposals when needed
  • Support the field to secure the necessary permits for Walk event
  • Develop and monitor the Walk and DIY operational plans and budgets
  • Develop and coordinate promotional activities
  • Effectively strategize and implement tactics designed to drive increased participation, fundraising and retention, and when requested, provide consulting on special events to the field organization
  • Oversee and maintain Peer-to-peer platform
  • Lead special events-based committees

Education, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred


  • Seven to ten years of development experience with demonstrated success, preferably in special event management
  • Three years of management experience
  • Experience working within a national nonprofit chapter structure preferred

Unusual Demands

  • Periodically required to work beyond normally scheduled hours
  • Up to 25% travel within the United States
