Summary

Other than special event income, the Individual Gift Officer is responsible for all individual annual giving. The position works collaboratively with the Chapter Development Committee to create, implement, monitor and report results of the Chapter Development Plan. In addition, the Individual Gift Officer works collaboratively with other Epilepsy Foundation Iowa staff and the Epilepsy Foundation Development Department to achieve goals.

The Individual Gift Officer will oversee a donor portfolio and build relationships with individuals that result in patterns of annual and major gifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads a comprehensive individual donor program to include strategies for prospecting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual donors in Iowa in order to achieve or exceed chapter goals.
  • Maintains a portfolio of individuals with giving histories of $250 and above.
  • Works collaboratively with the EF Regional Individual Giving Officers.
  • Works collaboratively with the EF Development Department to coordinate direct mail appeals.
  • Works collaboratively with the EF Iowa Advisory Board and the Chapter Development Committee.
  • Supports volunteer solicitors as they identify, cultivate and solicit prospects.
  • Responsible for donor data including tracking and reporting through EF’s CRM – StratusLIVE.
  • Promotes the impact of EF Iowa's mission in all public arenas.
  • Provides the staff leadership to the chapter advisory board development committee.
  • Supports the goals, objectives, and activities of the Development Committee.

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of fund development experience with demonstrated success in donor acquisition and cultivation resulting in new and increased levels of giving.
  • Experience in establishing, building and maintaining key relationships.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  •  Database Management (CRM) experience. StratusLIVE or Salesforce equivalent experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, and most energized in a collaborative work environment.
  • Able to complete assignments with appropriate self-direction and timeliness, meeting deadlines and deliverables in a professional manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, proof of current insurance coverage and dependable transportation.

Travel

Regular travel within and across Iowa is expected. One annual national leadership meeting requiring overnight travel is required.
