Epilepsy Foundation Greater Los Angeles

About Epilepsy Foundation Greater Los Angeles

The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles shares the nationwide mission and focuses on leading the fight to END EPILEPSY -- our vision and call to action. Established in 1957, our fundraising and community efforts support care, advocacy and education, today, while investing in research and hope for tomorrow.

Specifically, we support the training/work of pediatric neurologists or epilepsy specialists at major epilepsy center/clinics in our region. Our chapter continues to be the biggest affiliate sponsor of epilepsy research. We support Dietary Therapy Programs at local epilepsy centers. Our staff team organizes and offers a Helpline, an annual Family Day and Adult Retreat, seminars most every month, and a monthly Studio E Open Art Therapy Group and a Family/Friend Therapy Group. We offer training in epilepsy and seizure first aid for school nurses, schools and the public. After educating legislators and successfully advocating for the passage of SB161 (Diatat Bill) in Sacramento, we are now focused on providing video training to support the implementation of that bill.

Our annual special event is the “Walk to End Epilepsy” at the Rose Bowl and we support the “Care and Cure Galas” held in Los Angeles and Orange County. We promote do-it-yourself events that build upon the interests and talents of individuals in our community who are inspired to use their passions to promote awareness and funds for the fight to END EPILEPSY. We promote the notion that everyone needs to Believe, Speak-Up, Inspire, Donate and Take Action if we are going to achieve the vision of END EPILEPSY.
