Sandra Dewar PhD, APRN, FAES, is a clinical nurse specialist for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Seizure Disorder Center, and a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society (FAES). Adult patients suffering from seizure disorders that have not responded well to medicines are the focus of her clinical practice and research interests. She plays a key role in the comprehensive evaluation of epilepsy patients, including the provision of safe, efficient, and effective care of patients undergoing in-patient video EEG (electroencephalogram) monitoring.

Her expertise includes guiding patients to make informed decisions about all aspects of epilepsy care, addressing psychosocial adjustment issues surrounding epilepsy and surgery, and maximizing opportunities for healthy living for patients and families. Sandra’s professional leadership experience includes serving on both local and national Professional Advisory Boards of the Epilepsy Foundation and actively participating in committees and work groups of the American Epilepsy Society. Sandra is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Future of Nursing Scholar.
