The Harsh Reality

Epilepsy remains a potentially overwhelming and unsolved puzzle for far too many individuals and families. In spite of our efforts, funding to fight epilepsy remains limited. There are insufficient government, philanthropic, and commercial resources available to achieve our mission.

Brain storm

In today’s financial environment, philanthropic investment has never been more important. We seek to make the greatest possible impact with every dollar invested in the Epilepsy Foundation.

  • Today, 1 in 3 people living with epilepsy — more than one million kids and adults in the United States — live with seizures uncontrolled by any available therapy.
  • Existing treatments too often have debilitating side effects.
  • Not enough funds are available at the local level to fully support people with epilepsy and families impacted by epilepsy on a daily basis through local services.
  • Epilepsy is not discussed by the general public.
  • Finding a cure for epilepsy has not attracted a level of philanthropic support commensurate with the unmet medical need.
  • Each year more than 3,000 people in the U.S. will die as a result of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).

We need your support to bring a laser-focused spotlight on epilepsy. Your investment will change lives by bringing much-needed resources to people impacted by seizures.
