I have been on medication for epilepsy for the past 10 years, only every had 1 awake the rest in my sleep. I am currently on 150mg of topiramate and am now looking to start a family but I am aware that the drug causes complications during pregnancy...can anybody share their stories of being on the drug during pregnancy?or any of their findings?I can't find the statistics anywhere online...stopping the drug or changing isn't an option for many reasons...complicated argh!any help would be much appreciated:)

I have had one child while taking Topiramate (200 mg 2x daily) along with Carbamazepine (600 mg 2x daily) and had a successful pregnancy with no complications, just ended up having to have a C-section.  But my son is healthy with no disorders.

As coon as I know, you can have 3 options: Topiromate, Keppra, or Lamictal. Recently I was told that Lamictal is safiest. I'm thinking to change from Topiromate to Lamictal (or KEppra?), but not sure. 1. You have to take 1 mg of folic acid at least 4 month before getting pregnant.2. take magnesium and b6 (vitamins b-group) (check with your doctor, it is good)3. I don't actually understood which one of the 3 medicine works better and more safe. Trying to figure it out.
