SO MY EPILEPTOLOGIST WANTS ME TO HAVE THIS THREE DAY EEG. I'M GOING TO CHECK INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR THREE DAYS AND BE HOOKED UP TO THE MACHINES NONMEDICATED, AND WILL BE WATCHED OVER MY NURSES AND MY DOC AS WELL AS CAMERAS IN THE ROOM. I KNOW FO RMY CONDITION THIS WILL BE GOOD BUT I AM SCARED SHITLESS!!!!!!! THE THOUGHT OF HAVING A SEZIURE HAS MY STOMACH IN KNOTS AND ITS BEEN IN KNOTS EVER SINCE THE DR REQUESTED THAT I HAVE THIS DONE. MY MOTHER WAS SO EXCITED AND MY BFF AS WELL, AND ALTHO I SHOULD BE AS WELL, MAYBE WE CAN FINALLY MAKE SOME LEADWAY INTO WHATS GOING ON INSIDE OF MY HEAD, I'M SCARED. I'M DEPRESSED, SCARED AND JUST WANNA CURL UP INTO A BALL UNDER A THICK BLANKET AND WAKE UP AND FIND OUT THAT ALL OF THIS WAS ONE BIG LONG NIGHTMARE THAT LASTED 16 YEARS. I DON'T REALLY HAVE EPILEPSY..............

Re: THREE DAY EEG

Hi Inaclassbymylonesome,
I went through the three day EEG a few years ago at a hospital in Ohio. I have partial complex seizures and medications were not helping. My Dr. wanted me to do that same thing and, as you are, I was scared shitless too because I did have grand mal seizures a few times before. I understand how you feel but after those 3 days, I was glad I did it becaue it pin pointed exactly where the seizures were coming from and what exactly brought them on. I had those stupid electrodes stuck to my head, horrible hospital food, all kinds of different doctors, nurses, med students and pharmacists in my room and a camera pointed at me at all times. It wasn't fun but I made it through it. I also had to share a room with another woman (with a curtin in between our beds) and I found a really great friend after those three days.

It sounds like your mom and friend must really support you and I am sure they will be there to keep you company and make a bad experience turn into a good one...eventually. As much as it sucked to be there, it was worth it.

Re: Re: THREE DAY EEG

THANK YOU, THAT REALLY MEANT ALOT. ITS NOTHING LIKE BEING ABLE TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND THEY KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL OR HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE. YEAH IN THE BACK OF MY MIND, I KNOW THIS WILL BE BENEFICIAL FOR ME, BUT ITS STILL SCARY TO THINK ABOUT  I KEEP TELLING MYSELF ITS THE DEVIL TRYING TO GAIN CONTROL AND MAKE ME BACK OUT, BUT I WON'T GIVE HIM THE SATISFACTION

Re: THREE DAY EEG

I was just in there for that. It is nerve racking. But just remember, you are in bed or a chair, or you can just stay in bed and you will be safe. They will be watching you the whole time.

I want to wish you the best
take care

Re: Re: THREE DAY EEG

THANKS, I PLAN ON BEING IN THE BED FOR THE ENTIRE TIME, THATS WHERE I FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE. I'LL BE CHECKING IN RIGHT AFTERWARDS TO TELL ABOUT HOW EVERYTHING WENT.

Re: Re: Re: THREE DAY EEG

I have also had a EEG done about four years ago I have partial complex seizure disorder and have for 15yrs now and have had those same feelings wishing it would go away, but as you I have my mother to talk with and a great husband that watches over me.Keep those loved ones close and a great doctor you can trust in and you will be fine,I find that people live happy normal lives with epilepsy every day, I know its hard and scary and dont really understand whats going on but listen to your family, friends and doctor and properly take your medication. You will be alright.
