Pregnant while on Vimpat

Thu, 06/27/2019 - 20:47
I am 31 and currently on 400mg of Vimpat and 600mg of lamictal. My husband and I are wanting to conceive. My 1st pregnancy was great, my daughter is 7 and has no birth defects, however, I was not on Vimpat until she was about 8weeks pregnant. Has anyone had a healthy pregnancy while on Vimpat? My neuro was kinda pissed when I mentioned we were wanting to convince again & he stressed the importance of neurotubal defects.

Hey herronad!I had my son

Submitted by Cortiz06 on Fri, 2019-10-11 - 13:10
Hey herronad!I had my son January 20, 2018. In May 2017 I was taking Lamictal XR 200 mg, folic acid 1000 mg and Vimpat (can't remember dosage). I found out I was pregnant a couple days after my doctor started weaning me off of Vimpat because of being seizure free since having my brain surgery eight months prior. I took the medicine first 11 weeks of my first trimester. Found out after my son was born, he has a heart condition called abnormal right coronary artery. I was recently informed by my neurologist, it may be because of taking the two seizure medicines my first trimester. The first trimester is the most important during a pregnancy.
