Keppra and the menstrual cycle

Sat, 06/17/2017 - 15:17
Hi, I am on 500 mg of Keppra daily, I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2012. Since October 2015 I have missed the odd period and my period has become very light, now I have missed two month in a row and I am wondering if this has anything to do with Keppra? I am also on the contraceptive pill.

I am on 1000 mg of keppra a day since 2012 doesn't seem to have affected my cycle in any way. The only thing I do know for sure is to not take ultram tramadol or phenigran if u are on keppra. They have a counteractive effect  I learned this the hard way. If I had to guess I would say it's probably your contraceptive pill.

I have taken between 250-500mg of Keppra daily (or whenever i remember) for almost 10 years and it has never impacted my cycles.  Birth control on the other hand completely stopped my periods after a few years.  I am no longer taking BC but still on the Keppra and my cycles couldnt be more regular.
