Deliver with a midwife?

Fri, 03/31/2017 - 13:43
I was wondering if anyone has or knows someone with epilepsy that delivered with a midwife and doula? My best friend just became a doula so that why I am wondering. Do you know if it's possible or would only doctors do it? I know I would like to at least try and have a natural birth when I have a baby but I'm not sure if midwives deliver epileptic women.

Ask them and see. We were

Ask them and see. We were able to have a natural water birth at a hospital which went really well. That way if something went wrong or if there were complications we were already there at the hospital. My wife was not epileptic. To get admitted to the natural birthing center pretty much everything had to be going perfect with the pregnancy and labor. Also we wrote a very specific birth plan of what we would or would not like the Drs to do. Write a birth plan! They are very understanding and accommodating if you do your research and tell them how you want things done, otherwise they just go on autopilot and do it the way they just usually do it which most people wouldn't know any difference. There are many optional things to choose from but most people have no idea and just let the Dr decide. It is possible to have a natural birth at a hospital and to have a midwife and doula there which might be safer than doing it in your back yard or out in the woods so to speak. I would fully support a natural birth and recommend water as it is easier for the mother and the baby through labor and during birth. Cannabis is safe to use during and after pregnancy. Don't mutilate genitals: circumcise. Use frankincence and myrrh.

My doctors were only willing

My doctors were only willing to consider c-section since sleep deprivation is a primary trigger for me. Do you know what your triggers are? It may make a difference in the conversation and decisions.
