Hi All, I am 36 and have had temporal surgery for my seizures. I am on monotherapy of Onfi 40 mg a day. I am pregnant with my first and am not sure if I should breastfeed? I am all for breastfeeding but don’t want to harm the child. Does anyone have any experiences breastfeeding with Onfi? Thanks ! - A

Onfi is a class C drug for pregnancy so consider if you can avoid Onfi if you plan on another pregnancy. C:Use with caution if benefits outweigh risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies not available or neither animal nor human studies done.Onfi is excreted in breast milk so please discuss this with your ob.  The benefits of breast feeding are very strong so if it isn't possible, explore some additional options. It may be that you have access to a milk bank as an alternative/supplement for the next best option.
