Left Frontal Lobectomy

Thu, 12/15/2016 - 12:43
Hey all, I'm a 24 year old female, have had epilepsy since I was 7 years old and just this year got told I could be a candidate for surgery. I have gone through MRI's which have always came back normal I spent a week in the EMU for a video EEG which only told them my seizures are coming from my left frontal lobe so next is a PET scan and then invasive video EEG is my next step. Wondering if there are any similar stories out there, or successful surgery stories? Thanks!

I'm barely logging on for the first time, and I too and about to go to a neurosurgeon for my first appointment in regards to possible surgery.  I do not suffer from many Grand Mals (my last was two years ago), but I have complex partials monthly last weeks at a time.  According to my Epileptologist, the internal EEG would be the first step.  I won't lie, I am not ready for any of this.  I'm a 40 year old man and this doesn't sit well with me:).  In the end, I'm tired of taking 10 pills a day, and ready for the possibility of a more comfortable life.  Is it worth it?  What should I prepare for?
