Intercranial EEG monitoring: how long did it take for seizures?

Tue, 09/12/2017 - 04:41
My husband is in the midst of getting intercranial EEG monitoring to more precisely pinpoint the start of his seizures. The electrodes were placed 6 days ago - and so far, no seizures. He's done video monitoring before (not intercranial) and he's had plenty of seizures - so we are a bit perplexed. I have to stay with him during this time and I'm going stir crazy! Has anyone else done both types of video monitoring and experienced this? The docs are saying that sometimes it takes longer with intercranial because the electrodes may initially upset the seizure networks. (ughh). They say that the stay can be from one to four weeks - just getting antsy after a week - and wondered about other people's experience with intercranial monitoring (vs. topical electrode monitoring). It's been a day since his seizure meds were stopped - they gave him a beer and are sleep depriving him (which was happening anyway since being in the hospital) - just wondering about other's experiences. I'm hoping it doesn't take much longer.

I am in the process to my

I am in the process to my doctors planning for an SEEG for me as well.  From what I've read and what my doctors have said, it will be at least 1 week and up to 4.  When I went in for my VEEG, it didn't take too long for me to start having seizures once they took me off my meds.  I think it only took a day or so.  I am planning ahead and plan to not have my wife with me.  She will have her hands full with the kids school, scouts (Boys and Girl), soccer and volley ball.  I hope it worked out well.'Later,Racer
