Total Recovery

Tue, 01/16/2018 - 05:45
Hello I was doing a little research online and came across this sight and thought I should share my story. As a infant I suffered from heat stroke of 105 degrees. When the paramedics arrived they put my body in a ice bath to save my life. Because they reduced my body temperature so rapidly the hippocampus rigion of my brain was scared. As a child I suffered from focal siezures and was considered learning disabled. As a young adult I began having full blown Grandmal siezures and no medication would control my condition. After another 20 years of work related discrimination and complete disparity of ever having a life out side of the hell called epilepsy I was introduced to a new neurologist name Dr. Torres. This was the first Doctor that gave me hope. She explained a new surgical procedure that I was a excellent candidate for. After careful consideration and some serious faith based meditations I decided to put my self in Gods hands. The surgeon a brilliant teaching doctor at the local University Hospital would be the one performing the procedure. The morning my brother drove me to the hospital he asked me shortly after arriving still in the vehicle " What's Wrong With You" "Aren't you scared"! I just looked at him and shook my head and said no! My Elder at church had anointed me with oil the night before, and I had totally put my trust in God. After awaking I experienced a pain that is undiscribable and during the procedure they had bumped my occipital nerve causing my right I to swell shut. I also had a scar on my fourhead that would make Frankenstein pee his pants. The Doctors explained that he removed 15 millimetres of scar tissue from hippocampus and I may never have use of my right eye again. During my recovery I was unaware wether or not the procedure had worked and could only see with triple vision which sent me into a deep depression. After about three weeks of this and seeing my Doctor she explained that part of my anxiety was because my brain was trying to process three times the information. So about a month had passed and I was sitting in my apartment looking at the clock or should I say three clocks. This is when things started to change. I decided to use the muscle in my eyes and tried to cross my eyes as I did so the three images of the clock came together into one image. Total relief! I continued doing this for several weeks and my vision began to correct it self. It's been about 8 years now since my procedure I am medication free, epilepsy free, working in a hospital as a surgical instrument tech, hiking in Alaska, driving a 4runner! Life is Good! Now I know what a nightmare epilepsy is and not everyone is a canidate for this procedure but I thank God every day for my health and never take it for granted. I don't share this to boast about my good fortune but do it to share some hope to those suffering and would say have faith and rely on God to see you threw! Good luck and God bless you!
