Seizures followed by temporary personality change to 5 year old

Mon, 10/01/2018 - 20:26
My niece is 25 years old and she has been experiencing conscious seizures often induced by her nut allergy (however they come on randomly too). During some of these seizures she would experience a temporary personality change to her 5 year old self. The reason that we know she has the personality of a five year old is because when asked her age, she says that she is five. The personality change typically lasts until she experiences another seizure or she awakes from sleeping off a previous seizure (anywhere from 5 minutes up to 1 hour). She has been seeing a neurologist and allergist, however they cannot manage to find the cause. They think that it may be psychological and have prescribed anti-depressants for several months, yet there has been no change in the episodes. Upon recovering from the episodes she has absolutely no recollection of what occurred. The entire episode has to be explained to her. We are desperate for answers and want to know if anyone else has experienced any of the same symptoms.
