Photosensitivity

Hi everybody, I m new on this chat and I I m greatful to be here :) I want to talk to you about something called photosensitivity. Has anyone else this in combination with epilepsy? I ve red that only about 5% of epileptic are photosensitive? Is this true? I have talked with my doctor about this dilemma I have with all kinds of all lights. Stroboscop, the sun threw the trees, police and ambulance car lights and all other kinds of lights from example certain films...specially white lights who blink with high frequency...I don t hear so much talk about persons having problems with this but I sure would like to discuss it further...I also red that shutting both eyes isn t working but that one eye shut works? Is this correct? Anyone...?Thanks

Hi Makea94 - We're glad you are here. For about 3% of people with epilepsy, exposure to flashing lights at certain intensities or to certain visual patterns can trigger seizures. Some tips - sit far back from the stimulus, try closing one eye at a time (when safe to do so), avoid other triggers at the same time, look away from flashing lights like the ambulance or police... Visit the chat room to talk to people in real time about their experiences.thanks for sharing!

I’m definitely sensitive to flashing lights, I even feel a little weird if I step out into the sunlight without sun glasses.
