New seizure type

Mon, 07/16/2018 - 23:24
I feel bad for ranting here but I don't know where else to do it and feel safe about it. I have been dealing with epilepsy since I was 11 it started with absent seizures, then my 8th grade year I started having myoclonic seizures, I had my first grand-mal seizure the summer between my freshman and sophomore year and I thought that was then end of the surprises until today I got a call from my doctor saying that during my last routine EEG I didn't have an NOTICEABLE seizures but instead I had electrographic seizures. A type of seizure that can only be seen during an EEG. At first I was hysterical because after five different medications and so many different doses you'd think I'd be fixed. Then I was in the car with my friend and I just lost it. I broke down because I honestly can't deal with these I know people have it worse trust me I'm not an idiot but it sucks. Now I'm just emotionally drained and depressed and I now here I sit typing this wondering if I'll ever be seizure free and not be so reliant on people.

I get it. I had something

I get it. I had something similar happen last week, I also had a new seizure I hadn't experienced before, and it's devastating. It's emotionally draining, and it's hard to be anything but upset. I just want you to know that I get it, and you have every right to feel that way. This is my first post on here, and I truly hope you get the support you seek from this forum, the same support I seek.

Its great to find somewhere where people understand what you're going though and you can find support in a community that is full of people going though the same issues you might be going through. I'm sorry that happened to you because I know how it feels and I will give you my full support because we all need it sometimes.

I feel ya, dealing with szrs

Submitted by jimmieD on Fri, 2018-07-20 - 04:35
I feel ya, dealing with szrs ain’t easy. It can be draining in many ways. I was diagnosed at 22 with right temporal lobe epilepsy, I’m 30 now. I used to have 3-5 szrs a Month, I get 3 different types of szrs. I’ve fallen down stairs an fractured my eye socket an back an woke up in the hospital many times cause of my szrs. I had surgery to remove my seizure focus 3 yrs ago now. Although they’ve been provoked cause of alcohol or missing my meds I’ve had a few szrs since then. An I’m not encouraging u to go have surgery that was just my decision since the szrs wouldn’t stop an I had good chances of szr relief. Just gotta try to keep yo head up. There’s people here tht know what ur dealing with. Maybe try to find a group for people with epilepsy in ur area. I smoke weed an tht has always helped with my szrs an the depression tht comes with em. Maybe try some CBD product. Hope this helped somewhat
