My 15 year old daughter

Tue, 01/30/2018 - 15:00
Hello, my daughter had her first seizure at 9 and her second at the age of 13! I am so confused because her first eeg shows some abnormal activity and her latest eeg shows nothing, but she still has auras often! She has been almost two years without a seizure, but has auras frequently! She is tired and drained often with frequent headaches! She feels like no one understands! I am so lost I just want to help her and have not found any answers! What testing can be done? Is it common for children’s to have seizures so far apart and have epilepsy? Why does she always have auras with no seizures?

have you mentioned these

have you mentioned these auras to her neurologist? there are a few kinds of auras I know of - seizure auras are actually partial seizures, migraine auras are not seizures but there’s some common connections between epilepsy and migraines. if there’s another kind of aura, can’t think of it right now.some comments... seizures can change over time, EEGs can miss activity that another/longer EEG might catch, please track the aura episodes as there may be some connection to triggers, hormone cycles, food, etc... if your daughter’s doc is not a neurologist who specializes in seizures (aka an epileptologist) then consider consulting one to figure out if it is epilepsy or something else.
